Ibague, known as the musical capital of Colombia, will once again receive the best of speed skating from the American continent after being designated by World Skate America as the venue for the 2022 Pan American Club and Nations Championships, which will take place from September 8 to 18.

Alberto Herrera Ayala, president of the WSA, delivered details of the organization of this championship that will serve as a qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador and the Pan American Games in Santiago, both championships that will be organized in 2023. «The World Skate America gives again the responsibility to the Colombian Skating Federation, headed by its president José Acevedo, to organize this important continental event, which has the full support of the authorities of Ibague and Tolima, as it happened with the very successful Inline Speed Skating World Championships 2021,» assured Herrera Ayala, who added, «The government of Tolima, with the leadership of Dr. Ricardo Orozco, its sports institute, Indeportes, and the Ibague mayor’s office with its mayor Andrés Hurtado and the municipal sports institute, IMDRI, has spared no effort to have in their region this important Pan-American championships».

 

The highest representative of American Skating also noted that; «As is well known by all the countries of the Americas, Ibague has one of the best venues in the area, and that is a guarantee for the 2022 Pan American Championship of Clubs and Nations.» We have a team that is preparing the corresponding calendar.»

The president of World Skate America pointed out that he is already coordinating all the logistics that will allow the organization to have the same official hotels that were held in the previous World Championships. Likewise, the skating track at the Municipal Sports Park of Ibague has been kept in optimal condition to receive more than 2,000 athletes who are expected to arrive at this Pan-American event.
