CONFIRMED DATES OF PAN AMERICAN SPEED SKATING, FIGURE SKATING, AND INLINE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The President of the World Skate America (Pan American Skating Confederation), Mr. Alberto Herrera Ayala, announced the dates of the Pan American Speed Skating, Figure Skating, and Inline Hockey Championships. The Pan American Speed Skating of Club and Nations Championship will take place from 20-31 January in the city of Ibague, Colombia, the Pan American Figure Skating of Club and Nations Championship will be held from February 22 to March 7 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and the Pan American Inline Hockey of Nations Championship will take place from February 24 to 28, 2021 in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia.

The head of the continental skating indicated that due to the difficult situation the world is going through because of the COVID-19 pandemic, these new dates have been set for the three events. «Keeping in mind the difficult situation presented by the pandemic, the travel situation of some countries, and in response to the concerns of the leadership of the continent, and being aware of the difficulties that the pandemic has generated, we consider valid the requests to change the date by scheduling the Pan American Speed Skating   from   20-31  January,   the Figure Skating from February 22 to March 7, and the Inline Hockey from February 24 to 28, 2021,» stressed President Herrera Ayala.

In connection with the Pan American Speed Skating Championship, the maximum leader of the continental skating emphasized that there is total support in Colombia. «the commitment of the sports and administrative authorities has been a vital piece to be able to   carry   out   the   Pan   American   to   this   region,   which   guarantees   us   the   entire infrastructure to host an event of  such importance. In this regard, we must highlight the management of the Colombian Skating Federation, Mr. José Acevedo, who has achieved the institutional support of the Ministry of Sports, the Government of Tolima, and the Mayor’s Office of Ibagué to hold the Pan American.  In this way, Fedepatín responds to the trust we have placed in them for the organization of the event that has already guaranteed live television transmission. This will be the first international event in this new scenario,» emphasized the President of the World Skate America.

During this Pan American event, there will be training for technicians and judges on January 20 – 21. The events will be contested the infants category (7, 8, 9, and 10 years) from January 21-23, for the intermediate categories (11, 12, and 13 years) from January 24-26, the pre-juvenile of 14 years, juveniles between 15 to 17 years and senior of 18 years from clubs, as well as the juveniles and seniors from nations will be in action from January 27-31.

Regarding the Pan American Figure Competition, Mr. Herrera Ayala reported that everything related to the organization continues is proceeding as planned. «In common agreement with the President of the Ecuadorian Skating Federation, Marisol Castro, and because of the request of the population of the Figure Skating, we jointly studied the viability of postponing the date of the event by one month. Therefore we decided to set the call for the event from February 22 to March 7, 2021. As it has always characterized us, we continue to adjust all the elements that are part of this project to reach a successful conclusion in both sports and organizational matters. We have neglected absolutely nothing, and we have been in continuous communication with th

e Ecuadorian Skating Federation that is in charge of the organization. Passing the championship by the end of February allows us, and the countries involved, greater coordination so that everything goes perfectly,» expressed Alberto Herrera Ayala, who added that one of the important points of these two Pan American Games, Speed and Figure, is that they will be qualifiers for the Pan American Junior Games Cali 2021.

 

Concerning the Pan American Inline Hockey of Nations Championship will take place from February 24 to 28, 2021 in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia the President of World Skate America reported that it has the respective authorizations for the organization. “Once again, the management of Mr. José Acevedo, President of Fedepatín, has been of vital importance to obtain the permission of the national sports authority of Colombia such as the Ministry of Sports and the endorsement of the authorities of Bogotá authorities to be able to organize above mentioned Pan American in the facilities of the coliseum of the Colombian Skating Federation, located in the north of the city, and that it was already the scene of the Pan American of this discipline in 2019, ”concluded Mr. Alberto Herrera Ayala.
